How it's calculated
- Sale price
- Sale = Original × (1 − Discount% ÷ 100)
- You save
- Savings = Original − Sale
- Original from sale price
- Original = Sale ÷ (1 − Discount% ÷ 100)
A 30% discount means you pay 70% of the price, so multiplying by 0.70 gives the sale price in one step.
Two discounts in a row multiply rather than add: 20% off then 10% off is 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72 of the price, or 28% off overall.
